Vote For 6

Citizen Led Petition Drive Begins

Today, a local group of concerned citizens announces that they have formed a new group, VoteYesFayetteville (, to organize a citizen-led petition to add a referendum on an upcoming election to improve the structure of the City Council from its current nine single member districts and mayor to a structure of five single member districts and four at large members and mayor elected by the entire city.

With six votes (a mayor, 4 at large members and a district representative), every citizen will have more representation on Council, more elected people they can vote for, and more people they can hold accountable for their actions. With more elected people accountable to the big picture, we can work to resolve the important issues our city faces.

Please view the additional pages on this site to learn more about the initiative and how you can help.

  1. Please add my name as a signatory to your petition. I am a registered voter. Thank you.

  2. I absolutely support this group and their efforts! The Fayetteville city counsel is moving in an extreme left progressive manner, contrary to the citizens of this city wishes. They failed the downtown businesses, allowed their personal property to be destroyed and showed absolute loss of conscience for their actions. They don’t own the public and historic building downtown and have no right to either destroy or move them, period!

  3. I think it is a great proposal we need a change in the City Council structure where we(registered voters) have more representation on the council, regardless of color, I am Native American/white. And As a Retired Officer and Vietnam Veteran, member of Fayetteville City Council, MAC(since 77), NCDBA, MOAA, (Cooporate member AUSA, SUDAN Shrine, Fayetteville York Rites, Pheonix Masonic Lodge, VFW, American Legion, Vietnam Veterans of America, RMPA, FOP, FBFCU, FB Main Post Chapel (since 67), life member Devonwood Community watch, I encourage all my fellow Officers, brothers and sisters, and registered Voters of Fayetteville, to get on board now and “VOTE YES FAYETTEVILLE”
